What did you build?

A Spanish-first Telegram bot — @DEV_VEZbot — that gives Venezuelans clear emergency information (shelters, safe water, health, humanitarian aid) just by chatting in plain Spanish. No app, no sign-up.

Under the hood it's an AI agent built on surfcall (by Gecko): a layer that makes any API usable by an AI agent without writing integration code. surfcall reads the SOS Venezuela 2026 API, turns it into the right tools, and makes the correct call on the first try — so answers come from live data, not guesses.

Who is it for?

Anyone in Venezuela who needs emergency info fast and isn't a developer — reached where they already are (Telegram), in the language they speak (Spanish). And for the SOS Venezuela project: a zero-friction front door to their data.

How does it help?

  • Turns a developer API into something a regular person can just ask.
  • Real-time answers from SOS Venezuela 2026 data.
  • Free, no install, no registration — any phone with Telegram.
  • Open source (MIT). We also fed improvements back to the SOS Venezuela API (an OpenAPI spec + endpoint suggestions) so others can build on it too.
  • Reusable for any source: bring an API or dataset and we make it
agent-usable — one click if it has an OpenAPI, or we integrate it by hand. SOS Venezuela is just the first.

What should people try first?

Open t.me/DEV_VEZbot and ask, in Spanish:

  • "¿Dónde hay un refugio cerca de mí?"
  • "¿El agua de mi zona es segura para tomar?"
  • "¿Cómo pido o doy ayuda?"
